The Union - a union for racialized artists and cultural workers in Denmark was established in 2018 by a group of racialized artists and cultural workers who see a need to organize themselves in order to voice various forms of race-based discrimination and working conditions in the arts and culture industries. The Union's purpose is to facilitate a network where members can share knowledge and start conversations about professional problems with the ambition that The Union can in the long term enter into concrete cases about racism.

The Union needed a website to support and showcase their work to members and potential funding bodies. I made a design to convey accountability and legitimacy without the dry formality of traditional union websites. I also worked with a few subtle animated objects to invoke some playfulness within the design in order for the design to feel inviting to their members and visitors. The website was designed mobile-first since the majority of the visitors would come from mobile devices. I also decided to host the website on a VPS server to make sure the website stays fast while using the server resources sustainably and responsibly.
