ca 1 hour

a living room. a sofa. screens glow but nobody is really watching.
you‘re lying down, we’re sitting and they’re fixing their hair.
secrets stops being secrets.
it's sunny outside but everyone is too tired. maybe later.
What did you say?
conversations intertwine. thoughts stuck elsewhere.
I'm sad, you're irritated, and they have a lot of energy.
everyone knows everything and nobody leaves.

embrace has explored friendship as a concept and asked questions like; What is intimacy? What does it mean to be interdependent? To have chosen each other and go through life together? Based on movements and dynamics that arise between the friends in everyday situations, they have created meta-versions of "themselves" that dissolve and recreate anew.

EMBRACE invites into a space that embraces skepticism, confusion, and the exhausting ambition. Everyday hangouts take the stage where variations of a reality are negotiated with tenderness.

embrace is a collective of three artists: Meleat Fredriksson, Adam Seid Tahir and Lydia Ö Diakité, who came together in Spring 2020 to begin work on their debut collective project 'EMBRACE', a project comprising research for a dance performance of the same name.

The name embrace points towards the foundation of their collaboration; to embrace their existence and experiences as African diaspora in the Nordics, and examine and explore how these influence the ways in which they create art.
